Carterpillar are velvety black with yellow stripe or rings, head are red or orange, legs and prolegs - orange with black spots. The length of the carterpillar can be up to 6 inches. Carterpillars occur on the Caribbean, Central America, Mexico, and also in the tropical and subtropical regions of the America. They are feeding in gardens on frangipani and other plants of the Apocynaceae (Dogbane family). One caterpillar can devour three large leaves per day. Butterflies have unattractive coloring: grey nuance with pale black or white spots and marks. |
