Breadfruit - Dominica, Caribbean
Breadfruit is a round or oval starchy fruit, which has rough green skin, pale yellow flesh and a tough centre containing tiny black seeds if a breadfruit tree is "wild" (cultured sort of breadfruit tree do not have seeds).

Breadfruit is a versatile fruit which is eaten as a vegetable and can be prepared in a variety of ways, including being processed into flour. Although it is mainly eaten green, the ripe breadfruit can be used in the preparation of some sweet dishes, as the flesh is quite sweet when ripe.

The breadfruit is an excellent source of potassium, carbohydrate and fibre.

The breadfruit tree is a native of New Guinea and was brought on Jamaica by Europeans in 1703 and now it has been widely spread on the Caribbean.
